Once you decide how much time you want to spend or distance you want to walk, run, or hike, there are many fantastic ways to get out there and enjoy our town. For simple short walks, there is a winding gravel walkway along the Rockaway River. Park at McCarter Park on Broadway, walk the path, and enjoy a picnic lunch at the tables when you’re done.

For a little scenic detour, check out the gardens at the Denville Museum. You can grab a game of chess on the stone board and admire the recently completed memorial brick walkway that was part of an Eagle Scout project.

For a few laps or distance, head to Muriel Hepner on Diamond Spring Road. There’s plenty of parking available and it’s easily accessible. One lap around the pond is .33 miles, so you can keep going until you reach your desired goal. There is also a trail in the back right corner to walk through the woods if you’re looking to change it up a bit.

And lastly, for a little more distance and exercise, head to the Tourne off Old Boonton Road. You can park in the gravel parking lot, complete with a mini playground and picnic tables, and follow the trail up one side of the mountain for beautiful views, and back down the other side to your car! On the way down, keep an eye out for the sweet little wildflower trail to explore.
