Debby Kispert from the Denville Nutrition Center, has been our client for a little over a year now. Her office is conveniently located in downtown Denville, and she is dedicated to the health and well-being of her clients. Let’s get to know a little more about her and how her practice can help you!
With a new year and a renewed focus on healthy eating habits, what can new clients expect to receive from working with you?
As a registered dietitian, I will help you navigate through the misinformation that lurks everywhere to provide sound and easy-to-follow nutrition advice. I will learn about your health history, favorite foods, eating and exercise habits and help you prioritize and set practical goals. I start where you are and build a plan with you to be successful!
How long have you been in business?
We opened our practice in 2000 as Denville Family Counseling. Over the past 20 years we have been in 3 locations- as our staff grew, we outgrew smaller spaces. We have been at our current location at 92 Broadway, Ste 204 for the past 13 years. Denville Nutrition Center is an affiliate of Denville Family Counseling. I added my own brand in 2018 to distinguish the nutrition part of Denville Family Counseling. Visit our websites: www.denvillenutrition.com AND www.denvillefamilycounseling.com. Initially our business served the immediate area, now we have clients seek us out from all over Northern NJ, beyond Morris County. We pride ourselves on providing exceptional care to our clients in a respectful, compassionate and healing manner.
What prompted you to get involved with nutrition counseling?
I was born and raised in Pennsylvania. My mom is a retired RN. Healthy eating and exercise were a part of my upbringing. As I was in pursuit of a career, I knew it would involve helping others. Because of illnesses and family history of relatives, a career in dietetics became a logical option. I obtained both my bachelor and master degrees from Marywood University. I began my career in food service management and when Eric, my husband and business partner, started a part-time psychotherapy practice, it was a logical time with a young family to begin a private nutrition practice focusing on nutrition counseling.
What sets you apart?
I have been a Registered Dietitian since 1991. I obtained my Personal Training Certificate in 2009 to meet additional exercise &physical fitness goals of my clients. I have worked in a variety of healthcare settings as well as been a mentor to many aspiring nutrition professionals. Denville Nutrition Center offers nutritional counseling and exercise guidance to a variety of clientele, mainly teens and adults. I participate with most major insurance carriers. Some additional services are personalized for health-related goals of the client that include additional fees. I am always seeking new ways to address the needs of my clients. Visit my websites and social media pages frequently to learn more.
Since the affiliate branding in 2018, more people in town are receiving my new presence through social media and local advertising in the Denville Guide & elsewhere. In October 2018, Denville Nutrition Center was represented at Pink Witches Night. I also did some “Meet the Dietitian” events at two local hair salons and more recently offered a Nutrition Workshop remotely with the Denville Rotary. Outside of Denville, Denville Nutrition Center has a working relationship with Sparta Athletic Club offering “Meet the Dietitian” and workshops to their clients.
How did you come to choose downtown Denville for your office?
We chose Denville as our primary residence in 1993 to begin and raise our family. We love the downtown area and accessibility to other surrounding towns. It has been a great place to raise a family. Our boys went through the public school system and participated in recreational sports through Denville. When Eric decided to begin a part-time psychotherapy practice, Denville made it very convenient with so many similar offices to serve the community. I joined the practice shortly thereafter to balance flexibility with raising 2 small boys. Our practices began to grow and eventually we were able to leave our traditional jobs and focus solely on building our business and brought on 3 other part-time psychotherapists, each with areas of expertise to meet many client & family mental health needs.
What is your favorite bite in town?
I have many favorite eateries in town since we have lived here for nearly 28 years. I enjoy great quality food that has been made with love and care. So many of the restaurants have been a mainstay of Denville for many years, including passed on from generation to generation. With that said, I would have to choose Sergio’s as my favorite bite in town. Consistent & always reliable; whether stopping in for a quick snack, savory sandwich, salad or soup, or utilizing catering services, I have never been disappointed by anything I have selected from the menu.
Any last thoughts?
I am honored to have had a longstanding private practice here in town & the privilege to help so many in our community and beyond, however, maybe a “best kept secret”. Because we do not have the traditional “storefront”, we do not receive the same foot traffic as the retail and restaurant businesses in town. My marketing strategy, if you will, over the past few years for Denville Nutrition Center has been to become more well known. My husband & I are part of helping professions. We love to serve others wherever and however we are able, here in Denville and beyond. I appreciate the opportunity to have been asked and to be featured in the Denville Guide to let people know about my services.
